We are absolutely delighted with our extension. Scott and Dane are not only skilled in their trade they are both efficient project managers. The work was completed to a high standard and they really do care, any issues were dealt with quickly and effectively. We have young children and lived through the building works- the team made every effort to limit disruption. I don’t think many people go through such extensive building works and are happy to go again- we absolutely would! - Testament to an A* company!

We were delighted with the service we received from Dane and Scott at The Cheshire Building Company on a recent project at our property.  They took on full project management responsibility for the demolition of an aged one-car concrete garage with an asbestos roof and its replacement by a substantial brick two-car car port and separate two-room storage building.  Points that were worthy of note included –

 

Site access: Our property is located at one end of a path which serves four other properties and acts as a public footpath.  Although tarmacked, the footpath is narrow and unsuitable for large vehicles.  We made it clear to Cheshire Building and others that any access to the site would have to take this limited entry in to account, with zero disturbance for close neighbours and other users as an essential.  We felt that staff of Cheshire Building understood this and took the matter seriously throughout the project.  Neighbours were entirely complimentary of the care that the workmen took for deliveries and removals of even the most awkward items and materials.  

 

Site housekeeping: The standard of tidiness and order throughout was excellent.  Materials and equipment were tidied at the end of each working day, with more major clean-ups taking place as appropriate as phases of the project were completed.  The quantities of materials delivered at any stage were also appropriate to what was being done: at no point did we feel that we were acting as a storage yard for the entire build.  

Communication: This was exceptionally good.  Dane and Scott were very informative and kept us updated frequently on both long-term aims and short-term work plans.  Items such as major deliveries were notified to us well in advance.  They also responded extremely promptly to any queries or clarifications we raised, often replying outside normal working hours.

 

Teamwork: We found the group of guys from The Cheshire Building to be particularly friendly and approachable.  We had a great working relationship with them all, and had confidence that they were all operating to the same ‘The Cheshire Building’ standard. The teamwork extended to the excellent management of suppliers and contractors – a demanding task on this project. 

 

Overall satisfaction: Very high.  Although the earlier description of the work may not appear to have been difficult, the two buildings are quite different.  The car port is square, brick on two sides and open on two sides.  The roof is ribbed metal, sloping in one direction only.  The other storage building is not regular but tapers, becoming narrower towards one end, and has a curved wall at the narrower end.  It too has a sloping ribbed metal roof.  The building is internally partitioned with one end as an unheated garden tool store, and the other end insulated, plastered and ceilinged to provide a dry frost-proof store.

Dane and Scott have carried out work for us previously so we knew immediately who we wanted to build our new kitchen extension. Dane told us the build would take approximately 6 weeks and he would see the project through from beginning to end. 

Work started on the day we were told it would and the builders were at the house every morning promptly. We were informed at every stage of the build what was happening and although we made a few alterations Dane was very accommodating and honest in his opinion whether or not the changes could be made and if they would work. 

The builders made a make shift kitchen for us so we weren’t inconvened too much. All the work was carried out in a methodical way and the company respected the fact we still had to live in the house whilst the work was carried out and each evening the guys allocated time to clean up for the following days work to commence. 

The build did only take six weeks as promised so we were able to manage the other trades. Although the company didn’t provide our kitchen, Dane worked very closely with the kitchen company with regards to measurements, lighting and plumbing and was always on the other end of the phone for advice. 

The build quality is excellent with any snags dealt with promptly. 

We are so pleased with our extension, it’s changed the way we live in the house and
would have no hesitation in recommending The Cheshire Building Company.

I was given the names of several builders by the architect who drew up the plans for my extension and was very impressed with the quick response when visited by Scott. He was very polite and friendly giving me a detailed quote of the work needed and timescale to undertake the job. He and his brother Dane have a brilliant team of dedicated workers.

 

From the moment they started they were all extremely courteous and worked well as a team in getting the job done with the minimal disruption. The build went well and was completed quicker than I expected. Everything was done to my satisfaction.

 

All of the internal work, the electrics, plastering, tiling, plumbing, flooring, and painting were arranged by Scott and all of the tradesmen worked well together as a team. I was very impressed with the organisation and how he managed the entire project from start to finish. I am delighted with my extension and would definitely recommend there company .
